THE LIFE AND TIMES OF JAMES [last name deleted], EIT
***SPECIAL SEATTLE MARINERS EDITION!!!***

From the lovely home office in not-so-lovely Benicia, CA - We're bidding on work in Seattle, WA! Seattle is like the SF Bay Area, only they don't have an NL team. And pleasantly enough, their names are Californian in nature. There are no Homers (Dayton, OH), no Denims (Las Vegas), and especially no Mo's, TC's, RP's, or Puddin's (all north carolina).

Pretty much the only thing wrong with Washingtonians is that they drive 65mph on I-5 and they call it "pop". Californians will have none of this. And for your NorCal separatists, across the lake from Seattle in Bellevue is an I-405, which they call "the 405".

So these things aside, Washingtonia is very nice, and I hope to return there. I was calling a waste disposal site to get some dump numbers from them, my contact was named Missy Boone.

"What was your last name again?"
"Boone. Like Bret Boone."

Holy crap! I was just about to ask her, "Like Bret Boone?" And we proceeded to have a lengthy conversation about Everett and the Mariners and her 425 area code cell phone and the Mariners' new hunky shortstop Rich Aurilia. And I, like many before me, asked if she was married to Bret Boone.

But now I'm seriously rethinking my take on Seattle as a wannabe baseball town. What Bay Arean (LOL! sounds like "bay aryan") with a last name Baker or Snow or Kent or Schmidt would've said "Yeah, like Dusty/J.T./Jeff/Jason"? I think you'd be hard pressed to find one.

******* BREAKING NEWS *******
I have just learned that one of Petros's new goldfish has died. Unconfirmed sources (well, think about this here, people, who else could the source be?) are reporting that the goldfish unofficially designated "John" was found dead early this morning. Details to follow as they are made public.
******* BREAKING NEWS *******

So is Seattle a baseball town? I'm more inclined to think so. I hope to have a definite answer by the end of baseball season. Ideally because I'm living there again.

Go Giants/M's/Elvises/Devon,
